Hur kör man långsamt/står till på tomgång?

Jag har nu ingen riktig Velosolex utan en 4800-klon monterad på min cykel, men jag dristar mig ändå till att fråga forumet.
Jag har hunnit med några turer och motorn går fint här på grusvägarna (jag finner ständigt nya ursäkter för att åka och handla!). Nästan för fint. Jag undrar hur man beter sig för att åka riktigt långsamt? Och för att stå still på tomgång? Frågan är kanske dum, men jag begriper det inte.
Även om jag klämmer till gasreglaget till max (dvs ger så lite gas som möjligt) så går det ibland för fort här, där man måste zig-zacka mellan regnhålen i vägen. Visst kan jag helt enkelt klämma i fotbromsen. Men finns det andra, mer bränsleekonomiska sätt? Är det t.ex. skadligt för motorn att använda "pysen" för att sakta ned?
Vajern till gasen verkar riktigt inställd: när jag klämmer åt handtaget till max så dras den motsvarande lilla stången på motorn så långt den kan gå. Men kan det kanske vara så att motorn får för mycket bensin redan i grundläget, dvs att någon ventil inne i motorn släpper till för mycket bensin (som ni märker vet jag inte vad saker heter, jag kan helt enkelt ingenting om motorer!)? Jag har märkt att jag hittills inte behövt använda choken vid start och det kunde kanske tyda på att det flödar väl friskt där inne?

At a standstill, the engine should idle while on the tire.

It struck me while reading your reply that I actually never tried to brake to a complete standstill, and see what would happen. I have always simultaneously used the decompression, stopping the engine. I think I was afraid somehow that just pulling the brakes would harm the engine. Little did I know. As you say it should, it very nicely calmed down to idle, and then got going again as soon as I started with the pedals. What I do need though is a new front brake (I had to get rid of the old one to fit the engine), since now I rely on the pedal back brake only. Then remains the issue of going really slow. Could that problem also be related to the clutch, or is that just how they work?

The top speed is only about 25 kh with these engines, and they are not very powerful...you must assist by pedaling to go uphill.

I don't mind the pedaling, in fact that is part of the charm! If I do have a problem it is rather the difficulty to go real slow by engine, without using the brakes, since even at lowest gas the bike shoots away like a rocket (well, relatively speaking...). But perhaps that is just how it works, that you continuously engage the brakes whenever you want to roll slow?

That's correct. With the Solex-type throttle, it is not possible to slow down to an idle using only the throttle control.

In fact, on many Solex versions, the front brake lever controls both the gas and front brake at the same time. (two cables attached to the front brake lever...one for gas, one for brake)
